This cuff was made by Matthew Charley, a Navajo silversmith who often comes to Gallup, New Mexico bringing us his work straight from his workbench. Made with Intention, and love for his homeland Matthew takes pride in his work you can see that in every stamp, and in the way the stone sits just right on top of the band.
What really sets it apart is the hand-stamped work on the interior, Matthew takes the time to add those details even though they're hidden from view. That's the kind of work you get from a silversmith who cares about quality in every inch of his work. The oxidized silver finish gives it an authentic character and depth. With Matthew's hallmark and XXIV NAVAJO STERLING stamped, the oxidized finish gives the silver a worn-in, honest look, like it’s already been places and is ready to go to a few more!
Set into the band is five natural Sonoran Gold turquoise stones, a newer turquoise that started showing up around 2019 near Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. Folks recognize it for its bright, almost two-tone color, lime green and aqua blue cut through with a golden-brown matrix. It’s not vein turquoise; these stones are found as individual nuggets tucked into clay, which gives each one its own look and personality.
This isn’t a display-case bracelet. It’s meant to be worn hard and worn often—the kind of piece that picks up stories along the way. Real turquoise. Real silver. Real Navajo!
